Comics Alliance on ‘Man of Steel’

Agree with just about everything in Comics Alliance’s review of Man of Steel.

And it’s also clearly stated that the only reason Zod and his cronies are on Earth at all is because of Superman, which raises the question “Wouldn’t everybody be a whole lot better off if Superman never landed on Earth?”

That’s not a question anyone should come out of a Superman movie asking.

‘Futurama’ not renewed

This is sad. I’ll be forever thankful that Futurama made it back with the movies and subsequent long season, but it’s a real shame that yet another good TV series will bite the dust.

If you haven’t watched this show, do yourself a favor and start at S01, E01 and watch the entire run. Seriously, you can’t just catch a random episode to fully appreciate it.

Mad Men’s writers

…are good. It’s a joy to watch/read a talented writer’s work.

In summary: in a single reference, Matt Weiner manages to allude to a possible upset for the reigning champion Draper, add an integration angle, and add historical context by quietly noting the ascent of football to the front of the American viewing palate. If you wonder why people on the internet write so much about Mad Men, this is why: you can unfold one casual reference into a full dinette set with ease, and then have a substantial meal on it.
